About Writing the Song The inspiration for this song came from playing around with the word "soba," and realizing that the "ba" part could easily be repeated to make a doo-wop or swing groove.
It was so fun and catchy that I had to keep going and write a whole song about Japanese food with that rhythmic feel.
So why did I pick those specific foods to sing about? That was in part determined by the structures that I made. The two bridges were made of short rhythmic phrases consisting of 5 or 6 syllables, and in the first bridge I used rhyming and alliteration to describe dancing with each food. In the second bridge, using alliteration again, I described each food in ways not usually used for food.
So if my choice of foods seems a little strange, it was determined by the rhythm and structure of the song.
There are many more delicious Japanese foods that didn't make it into the song, and if we can't sing about them, well we can just eat them instead!
